On behalf of the University of Coimbra and of its Sport Sciences and Physical Education Faculty (FCDEF), I am pleased to invite you all to participate in the European Congress of Adapted Physical Activity 2022 (EUCAPA 2022), which will take place in the centenary City of Coimbra, Portugal, on the 9th-11th of June 2022.

This scientific and professional event is carried out bi-annually by the European Federation of Adapted Physical Activity (EUFAPA) targeting teachers, educators, coaches, therapists and rehabilitation professionals as well as academics highly interested in the field of Adapted Physical Activity (APA). EUFAPA is committed to show leadership and excellence in the delivery of education and professional collaboration in adapted physical education to the time it offers high quality, legislated service for people with disabilities in a diverse and changing democratic society across Europe. The congress has the main purpose to promote, facilitate and coordinate European cooperation in research, professional preparation, provision of services and promotion of Adapted Physical Activity for people with disabilities.

The University of Coimbra, created in 1290, is the oldest Portuguese university and one of the oldest in Europe, recognized in 2013 as World Heritage by UNESCO. Its youngest Faculty, the Sport Sciences and Physical Education, is honoured to have been selected to organize such an important event in the area of Adapted Physical Activity, contributing for the expansion of this European network as well as reinforcing bridges with China, Brazil and Latin America. The choice of the University of Coimbra and FCDEF was certainly based on the recognition of the work in APA carried out by the faculty over the last 28 years.

I would like to invite all EUFAPA members, colleagues and students to participate in this event that we are preparing with all the attention and detail, so that we can offer everyone an excellent scientific program as well as a good and joyful environment which will provide pleasant moments of interaction and a relevant exchange of experiences and knowledge.

While organizing this event, I would like to highlight the excellent relationship and cooperation stablished among all entities involved, with a very special thanks to all sponsors.

See you in Coimbra on the 9th of June 2022!

Chair of the congress
